Yet another of our schools bites the dust, it's 
gone the same way as my old infants school Racecommon Road Infants.

Pictures above are from the launch of the book "The Last Check" Which is a collection of personal memories from the Mapplewell, Darton 
and Staincross communities on the history of local mining.   The book launch was on Tuesday 26th November at the Village Hall Mapplewell.

The object in the picture, far right, is a canary cage for gas testing complete with oxygen cylinder for recovery of the bird.
